Literary Devices.

Motif- a reoccuring theme or subject. For example in King Lear the deception fathers was a reoccuring theme in which Lears two eldest daughters decieved him and Glouchester was decieved by his bastard son whom he love edmund.

Symbol-Something used for or regarded as representing something else.


Interior monolog- A form of Stream of conscienceness. Writing that represents the inner thoughts of the character.

Foreshadowing- A glimse of what is about to happen before the actual event.

Irony- The opposite outcome of what is expected to happen.

Allusion- A casual or passing reference.
